Juliane Borosch

Juliane Borosch is a doctoral researcher in the UA Ruhr graduate research group Scripts for Postindustrial Urban Futures: American Models, Transatlantic Interventions. She studied History, American Studies, and Literature and Media Practice at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. In 2018, Juliane completed her combined M.A. degree with her thesis on “#OneChicago: Cross-Serial Narration and the Televised City.” Her research interests include Transnational American Studies, Urban Studies, Popular Culture, as well as History and Cultural Studies.

Her dissertation project, tentatively titled “Jazzing Up the (Post)Industrial City,” investigates landmarks of the former industrial city at the conjunction of creative and sustainable urban development in a transnational comparison of Detroit, Michigan and the Ruhr Area, Germany. As part of her dissertation Juliane works with Zachary & Associates in Detroit, Michigan.
